5-A-Side football is the focus for this weekend’s (11-13 February) Hyundai A-League Matches with Week 27
Timed to coincide with Australian school children returning to school, the aim of the round is to help promote the benefits of football in helping kids to lead active and fun-filled lifestyles.
Cottee-s kids will represent the 5-A-Side flavour teams like the Coola Crazies and Orange Ogres on the field of play at halftime matches this weekend, and in Brisbane and Adelaide all kids will have the opportunity to try 5-A-Side football in specific fields set up within the Stadium precinct.
Cottee-s Schools 5-A-Side has been offered through primary schools since 2009 by Football Federation Australia (FFA) and State Federations.
“We are very pleased to have Cottee-s support for this program,” said Ben Buckley, Chief Executive Officer for FFA.
“The program is all about getting kids to participate and play football for the enjoyment of it so they want to keep playing for years to come. Since it started the program has involved over 25,000 kids, a number which we are really proud of,” Buckley added.
Cottee-s Schools 5-A-Side is a fun, free program that provides primary school children with the chance to try football with their school mates. It’s expected that as many as 27,000 children will participate in more than 180 events nationally in 2011.
