Melbourne Victory’s Leroy George has claimed the Hyundai A-League Goal of the Week for Round 21, as voted by the fans.
The Dutchman claimed the award for his stunning free-kick in Victory’s 3-0 win over Adelaide United on Saturday night.
With the Big V awarded a free-kick from 25 yards, George fired a fizzing effort around the wall and into the top left corner, leaving Reds keeper Paul Izzo with no chance.
George’s effort narrowly edged out Adrian Mierzejewski’s cracking strike for Sydney FC against the Wanderers on Sunday night.
In a poll on the A-League Facebook page, George’s goal claimed 58% of the vote compared to Mierzejewski’s 42%.
