Adrian Mierzejewski (Sydney FC v Melbourne City)

The Polish international’s reputation from dead-ball situations is growing by the week with another sublime effort in the Sky Blues’ win over Melbourne City.

Mierzejewski curled an inch-perfect set piece over the wall and past a static Dean Bouzanis into the corner of the net just before the break.

George Blackwood (Adelaide United v Newcastle Jets)

While the Reds may have been on the end of the result in the end, they scored a classic counter-attacking goal midway through the second half.

Nikola Mileusnic spotted the overlapping run of Michael Marrone on the right and he crossed the ball low to the on-rushing Blackwood who powered the ball into the roof of the net.

George Blackwood finished off a great team move against the Jets.

Alex Brosque (Sydney FC v Melbourne City)

What a strike from the Sky Blues skipper!

Route one football as a long-ball was flicked on by Matt Simon, with Brosque running onto it and smashing home a brilliant volley with his weaker right foot to ice the result for Sydney FC.

Sydney FC skipper Alex Brosque hit a sweet volley to seal victory against City.
