Newcastle Jets youngster Johnny Koutroumbis has taken out the Round 12 Hyundai A-League goal of the week, as voted by the fans.
The defender scored the opening goal in the Jets’ 4-0 drubbing of Western Sydney Wanderers at McDonald Jones Stadium last Friday night.
Receiving the ball on the edge of the box, Koutroumbis took one touch and then rifled a powerful low shot past Vedran Janjetovic’s right hand into the bottom corner.
Koutroumbis piercing drive was the clear winner with the fans, receiving 66.1% of the vote.
Wellington Phoenix’s Andrija Kaluderovic came in second for his looping header against Sydney FC, snaring 17.3% of the vote.
While he ended up with a hat-trick and a 4-1 win from the same match, Sky Blues striker Bobo had to settle for third spot in the goal of the round.
The Brazilian’s opening goal got 16.6% of the fan vote.
