Impressive Newcastle Jets youngster Johnny Koutroumbis has claimed the Hyundai A-League Goal of the Month award for December.
Each month we pick the best strikes from across the league and ask fans to vote for their favourite.
And in the closest poll yet, 19-year-old Koutroumbis narrowly edged out Victory midfielder Mark Milligan for the December award.
The versatile midfielder netted Newcastle’s opening goal in their 4-0 thrashing of Western Sydney Wanderers back in Round 12.
Receiving the ball on the edge of the box, Koutroumbis a touch before rifling a powerful low drive past the helpless Vedran Janjetovic.
The strike earned Koutroumbis 39% of the public vote, edging Milligan’s superb volleyed effort for Victory which claimed 34%.
