It’s not just the weather that heats up in summer with Hyundai A-League action to ramp up as well with two massive rounds during the festive period.
The A-League’s “Summer of Football” will see 10 games (Rounds 12 and 13) in just 11 days either side of the New Year.
“The Summer of Football concept with 10 matches in 11 days over the Christmas-New Year period is always very popular and we are expecting bumper crowds during this period,” Football Federation Australia CEO David Gallop said.
What better way to celebrate a great time of the year than with a calendar jam-packed with some intriguing Hyundai A-League match-ups.
There will be two games on Boxing Day, starting with Newcastle Jets hosting Wellington Phoenix at Hunter Stadium, while Sydney FC make the trip to Coopers Stadium to face the reigning champions Adelaide United.
Central Coast Mariners will again have their traditional New Year’s Eve clash in Gosford, with big-spending Melbourne City their opponents on the last day of 2016.
New Year’s Day will be spent at ANZ Stadium, with Western Sydney Wanderers taking on Perth Glory.
Other big games during this period include Brisbane’s home clash with the Wanderers on December 23, the Sky Blues host Roar at Allianz a week later while Victory are taking their home match against the Jets to Geelong (Simonds Stadium) on Monday, January 2.
There’s plenty of action to look forward to on the pitch in the Hyundai A-League this summer.
