Wilson also got among the fans during the match while he was on the ground as Sydney FC slotted the winning penalty and got their hands on the Hyundai A-League trophy.

It was a unique moment for the Hyundai A-League in terms of social coverage of the entire day by a global football channel.

While there were more than 56,000 fans inside Optus Stadium – a Hyundai A-League Grand Final record crowd – the competition’s showpiece match captured a far-greater audience.

Just ask Sky Blues goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne.

The experience gloveman – who has been called in Graham Arnold’s Caltex Socceroos squad this week – was the hero for Sydney FC as he pulled off two saves in the shootout to spoil the party for the hosts.

And his unique dancing moves as Glory players were about to step-up to take their penalties certainly caught the eye, with this post from 433 having almost 5 million views at the time of writing.

Redmayne’s dazzling dancing skills weren’t the only time the Hyundai A-League has gone viral this season.

Adelaide United defender Scott Galloway isn’t known for his eye-catching dribbling skills but he pulled off a moment of brilliance in a clash against Melbourne City – the club he has joined for next season – during the 2018/19 campaign.

Galloway looked to be going nowhere as he was backed into a corner but his deft backheel flick nutmegged not one but two City players.

There wasn’t a lot of joy for the Central Coast Mariners this season but Andrew Hoole still managed to make a big impression with his free-kicks, especially in the clash with Melbourne Victory.

Hoole’s two inch-perfect curling free-kicks not only bamboozled Victory keeper Lawrence Thomas but got almost 1.2 million views on 433’s Instagram account.

Footage of referee Jarred Gillett mic’d up during a Hyundai A-League clash between Brisbane Roar and Western Sydney Wanderers received plenty of positive feedback around the globe.

The Hyundai A-League’s International rights holder BT Sport posted the video, which is now edging towards 2 million views, with Gillett – now officiating in England’s Football League – earning a heap of praise for the way he handled the match.

The world’s-fastest man Usain Bolt generated plenty of headlines before the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 Season even began as he tried to win a contract with Central Coast Mariners.

Bolt played a handful of friendlies for the Gosford club, and scored a double in his first start against a Macarthur South West United XI, with the Mariners’ video of the goals generating more than 6.4m views.

There was also plenty of moments in the Westfield W-League that were shared around the world, like this from Brisbane Roar, who pulled out the ‘moving wall’ to put free-kick taker Alanna Kennedy off during the Semi Final between the Roar and Sydney FC..
