Wondering which of the Hyundai A-League’s new faces to put in your fantasy team? We’ve picked out five of the best you should consider when selecting your squad for the 2016/17 season.
Marco Rojas (Melbourne Victory)
Victory’s new signing has looked brilliant already in pre-season, scoring a superb goal in a friendly against Sydney FC.
Kevin Muscat will be hoping Rojas can have a similar impact to his last stint at the club – where he won the Johnny Warren Medal – which should translate to plenty of fantasy points. Valued at a reasonable $450,000.
Bobo (Sydney FC)
The Brazilian headlines a huge recruitment drive by the Sky Blues and will be charged with leading the line for Graham Arnold’s side.
Bobo has a history of scoring goals – and plenty of them – and if he can settle in Sydney quickly, he could be a big point scorer for any fantasy team. Decent value at $475,000.
Luke Brattan (Melbourne City)
Brought to the club to try and fill the massive boots of the departed Aaron Mooy, Brattan could be in for a huge season if he can be even half as dominant as the Caltex Socceroo star was.
Reasonably priced at just $300,000, the classy midfielder is an excellent passer and shooter from distance and will probably take most of City’s set pieces meaning he’ll probably get plenty of assists as well.
James Troisi (Melbourne Victory)
The returning Caltex Socceroo should slot straight into Victory’s no.10 role vacated by Gui Finkler’s move to Wellington.
Troisi fits in nicely to Victory’s attacking style and could be worth a start if you want a goal-scoring midfielder in your side. Like Brattan, will only cost you $300,000.
Wayne Brown (Newcastle Jets)
The goal-shy Jets were desperate to add some attacking firepower to their team this season and in the diminutive Englishman they look to have a gem.
Brown has the ability to score big points with his goals and crafty play in the attacking third and he won’t cost you a lot either at just $280,000.
