One is Melbourne City’s goal king ready to resume where he left off last season, the other is returning to Melbourne Victory hoping to make his mark on the competition.
City’s Uruguayan Bruno Fornaroli and Caltex Socceroo playmaker James Troisi at Victory have the potential to be two of the deadliest players in the Hyundai A-League in 2016/17.

But who would you take for your fantasy team?
Let’s take closer look at these two star players from opposite sides of the Melbourne divide.
As last season’s leading point-scorer, Fornaroli seems an obvious choice for your fantasy team.
While he may cost a hefty price at $581,000, as probably the best striker in the competition, you have to pay for his quality.
City broke all sorts of goal-scoring records last season. Fornaroli was a big part of that but so too was Aaron Mooy and Harry Novillo and with those two no longer at the club, brilliant Bruno is likely to be even more of a focal point for City.
With exciting attacking recruits like Bruce Kamau, Fernando Brandan and Tim Cahill – with Luke Brattan and Neil Kilkenny pulling the strings in midfield – goals again shouldn’t be an issue for the 29-year-old South American.
Fornaroli amassed an incredible 206 points last season. Replicating that will be tough as you would think opposition defences will know more about his threats this campaign.
On the other hand, Troisi appears a relative steal valued at just $300,000.
Still just 28, the attacking midfielder returns to Victory at the perfect time and having been at the club a couple of seasons ago, it shouldn’t take him long to settle into his new surrounds.
Troisi thrived in Victory’s attacking style in season 2013/14 which could prove crucial to his fantasy prospects.
He scored 12 goals in 29 appearances in that season-long stint and a similar number – as well as a few assists – could see him score in excess of 150 points.
Not bad for an attacking midfielder, especially at that price!
Victory look like playing in a 4-2-3-1 with Troisi in the no.10 role meaning he’ll be involved in plenty of attacking play in a side bursting with talent.
