Looking for a bargain when assembling your fantasy team? We’ve picked out five players that offer great value for money when trying to squeeze your squad under the salary cap.
Milos Ninkovic – Sydney FC ($170,000)
When you’re talking about value for money, there’s probably no better than the Sky Blues playmaker.
Appears an absolute steal at just $170k, considering he scored 104 points last year in a Sydney FC side that struggled.
With better players around him in 2016/17, the Serbian star should have no trouble adding to his four goals and five assists from last season.
Dino Djulbic – Perth Glory ($94,000)
The veteran defender should be a consistent starter in the west after seemingly overcoming the injury issues he endured last season.
A dominant defender with loads of experience should rack up his fair share of clean sheets in an imposing Glory squad.
Djulbic also poses a goal threat from set pieces, as we saw with his brace in the 2-0 win over Brisbane Roar in the Westfield FFA Cup recently.
Andrew Hoole – Newcastle Jets ($141,000)
Hoole looks like an excellent bargain buy. Back in the Hunter after a rollercoaster campaign at Sydney FC, the 22-year-old is likely to play a lot of games for the Jets.
And if his pre-season form is anything to go by as well, Hoole is in for a bumper season, one of the Jets best on their recent trip to China with a few goals and assists to his name.
Nick Fitzgerald – Melbourne City ($180,000)
The 24-year-old’s game has reached new heights since swapping Gosford for Melbourne and he should see plenty of game time for City.
His versatility is his major strength while he scored some important goals for City last season, including a stunning winner in Adelaide which halted the Reds long unbeaten run.
Will also be keen to step-up this season to help fill the void left by Aaron Mooy’s departure.
Andrew Redmayne – Western Sydney Wanderers ($171,000)
While goalkeepers aren’t the most glamorous positions for fantasy managers, every team needs one.
So if you can find a good one on the cheap to help manage your salary cap it’s a bonus and Redmayne certainly fits that criteria.
Improved significantly under the guidance of Zeljko Kalac last season – keeping seven clean sheets in 23 games as part of the A-League’s second-best defence – and will undoubtedly be the Wanderers no.1 again.
