Hyundai A-League classic clashes: Glory run riot against the Reds

Adelaide United and Perth Glory have enjoyed some cracking battles in the Hyundai A-League and ahead of their clash on Saturday night we’re looking back at their last encounter at Coopers Stadium.

And it’s one the home side will want to forget in a hurry.

In February of 2017, Glory arrived at the home of the champions looking for a win that would move them into the Hyundai A-League top four.

They delivered just that on a dramatic night that saw a one-hour delay due to extreme heat, an embarrassing own goal and a masterful performance from Perth’s Spanish star Diego Castro.

Glory surged out of the blocks and had three goals before the break, and then went on with the job in the second half with only some superb saves from Reds keeper John Hall preventing an even heavier defeat for the hosts.

As well as Castro’s brace, Andy Keogh and Adam Taggart also got on the scoresheet as Glory secured a crushing 5-0 win.
