The Westfield W-League Premiers Plate is in touching distance for Sydney FC, with the Sky Blues 90 minutes away from potentially lifting their first Premiership in 10 years on Saturday.
Ante Juric’s side are two points clear of second-placed Brisbane Roar and one more win against Melbourne Victory would clinch Sydney’s first league title since 2010/11, and the third in their history to add to their three championships, although they come off a bye week following a 2-0 reverse against Adelaide United.
The heat is rising in the race for finals football and should third-placed Victory fall in the Harbour City, Canberra United will be ready to take advantage. The Green Machine are looking to build on their dramatic late win against Perth Glory last week when they travel to play the Newcastle Jets on Saturday.
But five teams cannot fit into four places, and Adelaide will be hungry to finish their impressive season by writing some history of their own as the Reds close on their first-ever Finals Series appearance in their final match of the campaign against the Newcastle Jets on Sunday.
