Brisbane Roar goalscorer Brett Holman says the visitors only have themselves to blame for failing to convert a lead into victory against Adelaide United on Friday night.
Thrust into an unexpected centre-forward role, Holman opened the scoring at Coopers Stadium with a deflected effort from distance on the hour.
However, Brisbane let the bottom-placed hosts back into the game in the final 30 minutes and were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw when Michael Theo failed to keep out Sergi Guardiola’s header.

“Unfortunately I think we took it a little bit too easy towards the end and (Adelaide equalised) with a pretty cheap goal to our standards,” Holman told Fox Sports.
“We won’t be happy with that. We had enough chances I believe, especially in the second half, to kill off the game.
“One point I suppose you can handle in the end.”
Holman started in the middle of Brisbane’s three-man attack and justified John Aloisi’s move with his first goal in orange.
The former Aston Villa man said he felt comfortable stepping in for star striker Jamie Maclaren, who is on Caltex Socceroos duty in Thailand.
“I’ve played a little bit there in my time, especially in the last couple of years,” the 32-year-old said.
“It was good to get my first goal for the team.”
