Holland: Reds ready to bring down Sydney FC

James Holland says Adelaide United have moved on from their frustrating loss to Perth Glory and are now firmly focused on stopping unbeaten Hyundai A-League leaders Sydney FC on Saturday night.

The Reds are still winless in season 2016/17 after another defeat against the Glory at the weekend.

But Holland admitted despite the disappointing result the team are concentrating on ladder leaders Sydney FC.

“Obviously, after the game (against Perth) it’s tough to take, but at the same time we have to look forward,” Holland said.

Holland acknowledged the Sky Blues will be a difficult proposition this weekend, yet believes if the Reds continue to stick to the game plan their fortunes will change very soon.

“Obviously they’re (Sydney FC) riding a bit of a wave of success at the moment,” Holland said.

“They are a hard team to break down, they’re very organised and defensively really strong and have a few good players up front.

“But I think we just have to play our game, I think if you look at the majority of our games this season we haven’t been played off the park.

“So we’ve got more than enough quality it’s just about maybe things falling our way and that final pass or that finish and we just need to take our chances.”

Holland also said United must try to capitalise on their periods of dominance and be more ruthless in front of goal when grabbing the ascendency during matches.

“I think we’ve got to have that killer instinct in front of goal one hundred per cent,” Holland continued.

“We’re aware of that as a team when we’ve had our opportunities, it’ll come (the goals) but we just have to keep working on that as a team.”
