In a huge boost for Melbourne Victory, talisman Carlos Hernandez has been cleared of serious damage to his right knee and is a strong chance to line up against North Queensland Fury this Sunday at AAMI Park.
Hernandez limped off during the Victory’s 2-0 loss to Perth at the weekend – leaving Melbourne with just a point in their opening two games – but despite some inflammation, the club has confirmed there is no damage to either the anterior cruciate or medial ligaments.
The 2009-10 Johnny Warren Medallist will be assessed by club medicos this week and could well face the Fury this Sunday as the Victory bid to kick start their 2010-11 A-League campaign with a win.
