Transfer news: ‘Slippery Fish’ returns to Roar

Brisbane Roar have confirmed fan favourite and three-time Championship winner Henrique Andrade Silva has returned to the Hyundai A-League club.

After training with the club earlier this week, Henrique will be available for selection for Saturday’s Hyundai A-League clash at Suncorp Stadium against Newcastle Jets.

“I’ve been dreaming about this moment for a long time. I always wanted to return to the Brisbane Roar and I’m so happy that this day has come,” Henrique said.

“The fans have a special place in my heart and I know I have a special place in their hearts.

“I can’t wait to play in front of our supporters, and I promise I will do my very best to reward the fans and the Club.

“I would like to thank John Aloisi, the coaching staff and everyone involved in making this happen and giving me this opportunity.”

Henrique netted 34 goals in eight Hyundai A-League seasons at Brisbane, including in two grand finals in 2011 and 2014.

Head Coach John Aloisi says it’s terrific to have a player of Henrique’s calibre back in Roar Orange.

“On behalf of BRFC, I would like to say how delighted we are to have such a quality footballer return to our side,” Head Coach John Aloisi said.

“Henrique is a winner who is adored by our supporters and the local football community in Brisbane.

“Having seen him in action at training this week and speaking to Riki personally, I know how hungry he is to help us be successful this season and we are wrapped to have him back.

“He’s played a significant role in our Club’s successful past and I’m sure he can’t wait to get back out onto Suncorp Stadium this weekend.”
