Henrique dedicates goals to Chapecoense compatriots

Adelaide United striker Henrique has dedicated the goals he scored in Sunday’s win over Wellington to the victims and survivors of the Chapecoense plane crash.

The Brazilian netted a first half brace with two majestic strikes at Coopers Stadium to help the Reds secure their first win of the campaign.

The home side all wore black armbands for the clash as a mark of respect and Henrique discussed the special significance of the goals following the airplane disaster that claimed the lives of 71 people, including 19 players and staff from the Chapecoense club.

“It was very sad news, not just for Brazilian people,” Henrique told reporters on Tuesday.

“When you see a tragic event like that happen it’s very sad. I dedicated my goals for them.

“It’s special for those that survived, so we have to celebrate them and I think it was a good way to celebrate.”
