Adelaide United tried to keep Kusini Yengi but the talented forward will be playing elsewhere next season after the Isuzu UTE A-League club announced his exit.
Yengi was among four players to depart Adelaide following the 2021-22 A-League Men season, along with defenders Jacob Tratt, George Timotheou and midfielder Joe Caletti.
Adelaide local Yengi developed into a crowd favourite after his debut in 2020 and despite the Reds offering a new contract, the 23-year-old – who scored six goals in 28 games – opted to leave Coopers Stadium.
“I’d like to thank Jacob, George, Joe, and Kusini for their contributions to the team,” said Adelaide head coach Carl Veart, who oversaw the club’s run to the semi-finals.
“They have all helped build a strong culture within the dressing room and have helped our club progress.
“Regarding Kusini, the club did table an offer and had discussions to retain him, however he decided he wanted to try develop his football elsewhere.
“Nevertheless, we wish all four boys, and their families, well for the next stage of their careers.”
