‘He should never shoot again’: Maclaren takes aim at City teammate after freak accident

It appears that the clinical accuracy of Jamie Maclaren is not rubbing off on his Melbourne City teammate Kearyn Baccus.

Maclaren, 25, was on the receiving end of some friendly fire during a training session last week, copping a wayward effort in the face from his teammate.

The stray shot from Baccus resulted in the Caltex Socceroo forward missing his side’s 3-0 defeat to Western Sydney Wanderers with the after-effects of concussion.

“We were having a bit of a joke saying he should never shoot again,” Maclaren said.

“It hit me clean in the temple and I was out for about three minutes.

It was a freak accident. I’ve been hit harder in the head before and been fine… I’m raring to go for Friday.”

Former Western Sydney Wanderers man Baccus, a key midfield cog for Warren Joyce’s City this season, has played 84 Hyundai A-League matches without scoring a goal.
