Harnwell appointed Lady Reds coach

Football Federation SA has signed Jamie Harnwell as the Westfield W-League Lady Reds Head Coach for the 2015/16 Season.

Football Federation SA welcomes Jamie to Adelaide after the departure of head coach Ross Aloisi to Brisbane Roar in the Hyundai A-League.

Jamie is an established coach in the Westfield W-League, who recently led Perth Glory to the 2014/15 Premiers’ Plate.

Perth went on to the Grand Final and was narrowly inched out by Canberra United for the Championship.

Under the direction of Harnwell, Perth Glory set a new mark for the biggest number of league points earned in a season and also became the first team to win the first six games of a season.

A Perth Glory legend, Jamie is the club’s all time most capped player with an impressive 256 appearances for the Western Australian side.

Jamie said he is excited to be joining the Lady Reds and believes the move from WA will be a positive challenge.

“I am looking forward to a new challenge, moving out of my comfort zone after living, playing and coaching in Perth for a number of years,” he said.

“The Lady Reds and Michael Carter have been welcoming and I feel this will be a positive move for me.”

FFSA Chief Executive Officer Michael Carter welcomed the appointment of Harnwell to the Lady Reds.

“Having Jamie lead the Lady Reds this season is an excellent result.” Carter said.

“Jamie is a proven W-League coach and we are looking forward to him joining the team and not only coaching the Lady Reds but reviewing our current programs for girls in the State.”

Harnwell is currently employed in a full time capacity with Football West as the General Manager of Community Football and Game Development and will take a leave of absence from this role during the Westfield W-League season.

“I would like to thank Football West for their cooperation in providing Jamie with leave of absence from his current role for the W-League Season,” Carter stated.

The Westfield W-League Season kicks off on October 17 and Jamie will begin his role with the FFSA  on Monday the 14th of September, 2015.
