Gutsy Glory hold Victory at AAMI Park

A wasteful Melbourne Victory have butchered the chance to make it three straight wins after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Perth Glory on Friday night.

Victory dominated large periods at AAMI Park but failed to capitalise on the scoreboard with Glory earning a vital point away from home.

Melbourne started brightly and looked threatening in the early stages but fell behind inside 20 minutes with Andy Keogh punishing the hosts following a clinical Glory counter-attack.

The hosts clicked into gear after conceding and found a deserved equaliser with Besart Berisha on target just before the half-time interval.

Kevin Muscat’s side continued to dominate possession but poor finishing and a dogged Glory outfit frustrated Victory as both sides were forced to share the spoils.

GOALS

0-1 Glory:  Andy Keogh 17’

A superb ball from Nebojsa Marinkovic played Chris Harold in behind with the winger expertly pulling the ball back for Andy Keogh who smashed a powerful strike past the helpless Lawrence Thomas.

1-1 Victory: Besart Berisha 41’

Marco Rojas found himself in space on the right flank before delivering a teasing cross which was inexplicably missed by Glory defender Dino Djulbic with Berisha on hand to finish from close range.
