Adelaide United coach Guillermo Amor has told of how his former FC Barcelona teammate and current Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has been in touch following the Reds’ premiership success.
In an exclusive live blog with The Advertiser, Guillermo Amor has explained how fellow FC Barcelona legend and current Bayern Munich coach, Pep Guardiola, congratulated Adelaide United on their claiming of the Hyundai A-League Premiers’ Plate.
Amor also told how Guardiola wished the Reds well ahead of their do-or-die Semi-Final against Melbourne City on Friday night.
During the blog, Amor said: “I have spoken with Pep and he sent me a message saying: ‘Congratulations for the title. Unfortunately I couldn’t see the match as SKY doesn’t show Australian Football. But I am happy for you’.”
Amor also lauded Guardiola’s work ethic from their time at Barcelona together before saying he will potentially catch up with his former teammate later this year.
“(Pep) was a very good teammate (and) he has a very strong, winning mentality.
“He also has a big personality and lives and breathes football. He speaks a lot about football, both on and off the field.
“We speak regularly and it’s possible we will catch up when I am on holidays back in Barcelona.”
