Golec suspended for Twitter outburst

Adelaide United defender Antony Golec has been banned for three games by Football Federation Australia, following his comments on Twitter last weekend.

Golec, who made the comments in what he thought was a private message to his brother during the match between Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar last weekend, has apologised for his actions but FFA today found the player to be in breach of the National Code of Conduct.

As a result Golec has received a three-match ban, two games of which are suspended.

The defender will miss Adelaide-s game against Gold Coast United this weekend, with the remaining two-match ban to be triggered should Golec breach the Code of Conduct again this season, or fails to undergo counseling over his comments.
