Golec signs A-League contract with the Wanderers

Western Sydney Wanderers have signed Antony Golec to a one year contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2014/15 season.

Western Sydney Wanderers have signed defender Antony Golec to a one year Hyundai A-League contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2014/15 season.

The 23 year old initially joined the Wanderers in February on an AFC Champions League (ACL) contract with his work on the pitch convincing Tony Popovic to bring him on board with the Hyundai A-League roster.

Golec has been a mainstay in the Club-s ACL run to the Quarter Final having played in the back line for seven of the eight matches so far.

The former Young Socceroo said it was an easy decision once he received the offer.

“It feels very good to have signed with the Wanderers, I-m very happy,” explained Golec.

“I-ve been working hard for the past couple of months since I-ve come to the Club and I feel this is where I need to be to improve.”

“I look at myself over the past four months and I feel I-m a brand new player. I still have a long way to go and that makes signing so exciting for me.”

According to Golec, the Wanderers have had an impact on more than just his on-field performances.

“I-ve learnt a lot as a footballer and as a person off the field as well. I didn-t know what a professional club was like until I came here; it-s something I-ve never experienced.

“I don-t want to be a footballer who travels around to different clubs, I want to make my mark on the Hyundai A-League and I can do that here at the Wanderers.”
