A 16-goal haul across Round 7 has opened up the race for the Westfield W-League Golden Boot.
Sam Kerr’s double in Perth Glory’s hefty 4-1 win at Adelaide United not only helped her side to the top of the ladder, but saw the Westfield Matildas forward skip clear on five goals.
Close in attendance are a pair of international stars – Melbourne Victory’s English forward Natasha Dowie and Newcastle Jets’ American striker Jen Hoy, both of whom were also on the scoresheet. It was a fourth goal in as many outings for Hoy.
Moving to three goals for the season was Kerr’s teammate Rosie Sutton, plus Canberra duo Ashleigh Sykes and Nickoletta Flannery. Both scored doubles in Canberra’s stunning 5-1 win over Brisbane Roar, with 17-year-old Flannery doing so in just her second starting appearance.
