Gold Coast United Will Feature in Next Season’s A-League

The FFA have confirmed that Gold Coast United are to take part in next season’s Hyundai A-League.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) and Gold Coast United (GCU) today ended speculation by confirming GCU-s participation in the 2010/11 Hyundai A-League season.

FFA has been informed by GCU owner Clive Palmer in writing of the Club-s ongoing participation in the Hyundai A-League.

FFA CEO Ben Buckley welcomed the confirmation and the stability it will bring to the competition.

“I am delighted that we are able to end any speculation and continue our planning for the sixth season of the Hyundai A-League season with 11 teams in the competition,” Buckley said.

“With a brand new club there are always challenges but Gold Coast United and FFA have been working constructively to build a solid football platform on the Gold Coast for the future.

“Gold Coast United will continue to be a competitive team in the Hyundai A-League and we will work with them to develop further community and sponsorship support and build on the achievements of the first year.

“With the recent turnaround in North Queensland, the commitment from Gold Coast United will see us continue to strengthen the football footprint in Queensland.”
