The Goals for Grassroots program has seen Hyundai Motor Company Australia donate $74,000 to worthy grassroots clubs around Australia during the Hyundai A-League Season 7 and over $300,000 since the program-s inception.
While Brisbane Roar took home the Hyundai A-League Championship trophy for the second year in a row, the Ipswich City Bulls took home a $3000 Hyundai Goals for Grassroots grant to help replace equipment that was lost during the Queensland floods.
As the selected grassroots club for the final game in the 2011/12 season, the Ipswich City Bulls Football Club automatically received $1000 with an additional $1000 for each goal scored by Brisbane Roar.
“The club is currently in a rebuilding stage after the devastating Queensland floods. We saw a significant drop in numbers this season because many families couldn-t afford to play,” Ipswich City Bulls representative Liz Ridley said.
“This grant will provide a big helping hand as it will go towards replacing equipment that was lost or damaged during the floods.”
“This has been a great season for Brisbane Roar and we are so happy to have partnered with Hyundai to make this a great season for grassroots football too,” Brisbane Roar-s Erik Paartalu said.
“The heart and future of our game lies with the local and community clubs and we were so excited to have such a deserving club join us at the Grand Final for a memorable Goals for Grassroots game.”
Goals for Grassroots was initiated by Hyundai Motor Company Australia in 2007 to support the growth of football in Australia by nurturing the game at its grassroots level.
It has been running for five years and it offers support to local clubs across the country by providing funding in the areas they need it the most
