Perth Glory forward Joel Chianese says a home final will be the target when they host Melbourne City in the final regular season round next Sunday.
Glory put a poor March behind them on Saturday night with a well-earned 3-1 win over Brisbane Roar at nib Stadium.
Kenny Lowe’s side can leapfrog City with a four-goal victory next weekend, while three points alone would be enough if Brisbane Roar lose heavily at home to Wellington Phoenix.
“We had Kenny screaming at us from the bench to score more goals towards the end although a few of us wanted to rest up,” Chianese told Fox Sports.
“We’ve got a team that scores plenty of goals, we’ve seen that all year.
“It’s probably been a bit of a problem conceding too many goals but hopefully we can clean that up like we did [against Brisbane] and push on.”
Chianese turned in his best performance in a purple shirt on Saturday night and said it was an “awesome feeling” to have sealed a top six berth.
“We saw Wellington scored very late in their match so we knew the fate was in our own hands and the boys turned up for an awesome crowd,” the former Sydney FC player said.
“It’s good to get on a roll now coming into the [Finals Series].
“We know we’re there but hopefully we can push for a home final now.”
