THERE’S reason to celebrate in Western Australia, as Perth Glory unveils a ‘new’ badge which pays homage to the club’s illustrious past ahead of its 25th-year anniversary celebrations this season.
Founded in 1996, Perth burst onto the scene to quickly become a National Soccer League (NSL) powerhouse, adorning the vibrant badge through the most successful spell in the club’s history which garnered two NSL titles in 2003 and 2004.
Glory’s Nik Mrdja ended the NSL era off his own boot with a golden goal which struck through the heart of Parramatta Power fans, deciding the 2004 Grand Final in favour of the WA side.
As one era ended another began, with the inception of a new league seeing Glory survive to kick off proceedings in August, 2005, wearing a brand new badge in their very first A-League fixture against Central Coast Mariners.
And now, 25 years after its inception, the club will celebrate its 25th anniversary by reviving the original badge adored by the Glory faithful. In 2021/22 the club’s A-League and W-League outfits will display it proudly throughout their respective league campaigns.
Cue the big reveal!

Glory CEO Tony Pignata told the club website it’s a fitting testament to a proud history.
“Glory’s rich and proud history sets it apart from every other A-League club,” Pignata said, “and in our 25th year, it is fitting that we celebrate that history fully.
“Reverting to the original 1996 badge enables us to acknowledge not only the achievements of the past, but also the club’s development into a major feature of both the WA and national sporting landscape.
“We continue to honour the traditions and values that have made this unique football club what it is today and they guide us as we strive to secure the sustained success that our wonderfully loyal and dedicated supporters crave and deserve.”
