Perth Glory have beaten Malaysian Premier League outfit Felda United 9-0 in a friendly at Dorrien Gardens on Tuesday night with Ndumba Makeche scoring a first-half hat trick, Borbor Sam chipping in with two and Jamie Maclaren, Jacob Burns, Adrian Zahra and Brandon O-Neill all scoring one each.

Head Coach Alistair Edwards used the practise match as a good opportunity to give some of his senior squad player-s much-needed game time while giving fringe players a chance to press for first team selection.

Felda United were also using a large squad as part of their pre-season campaign and were trialling a number of players, including former Adelaide United player Evan Kostopolous.

It was the Ndumba Makeche show in the first half as he consistently found space and time up front. He eventually broke through the Felda United defence in the 17th minute after being put through by Maclaren, rounding Captain Mohd Shukar Adan and sliding it past goal keeper Farizal Harun.

That same scenario was repeated in almost identical fashion another two times in the first half as Maclaren linked up with Makeche to waltz around Harun in goal to tap the ball into an empty net and complete his impressive first half.

Maclaren finally got his own reward in the 39th minute when he scored a pearler from outside the 18-yardbox, curling the ball into the top right hand corner giving Harun no chance.

HALF TIME: Perth Glory 4-0 Felda United

Edwards swapped the entire squad over at half time to give youth league players Jacob Collard, Sean Troup, Luke Radonich (GK), Borbor Sam and Alex Castiello the chance to mix it with a number of senior players including Captain Jacob Burns, who was having his first hit out after completing a 2-match ban.

Unfortunately it was the same story for Felda United who struggled to maintain any possession and failed to register a shot on goal all night.

Sam was the first to get the scoring underway in the second half, hitting an angled shot across new keeper Fairul Azwan in the 64th minute to make it 5-0.

That score quickly blew out to 7-0 after goals to Burns and Adrian Zahra in the 70th and 73rd minutes, before O-Neill and Sam completed the rout in the dying minutes of the match to run out comfortable 9-0 winners.
