Perth Glory have confirmed their interest in former Liverpool and England striker Michael Owen.
The 33-year-old is at English Premier League side Stoke City but has managed less than an hour of first-team football this season and his agent is said to be offering his services to A-League clubs.
With striker Billy Mehmet moving on to join Thai club Bangkok Glass, there is space in the Glory’s squad for an international player and a spokesman for the club insisted they would be keen on signing Owen.
“Michael Owen’s agent has enquired about Michael playing in the A-League,” the spokesman told the West Australian newspaper.
“Perth Glory are interested but are yet to find out Michael’s terms and conditions.
“Until these are known, Perth Glory will not enter any further negotiations.”
The Englishman burst onto the scene at Liverpool where he scored 118 goals in 216 appearances before enduring largely injury-ravaged spells at Real Madrid, Newcastle United and Manchester United.
