Glory goalkeeper puzzled by off-colour Perth

Perth Glory goalkeeper Liam Reddy is seeking answers after his team crumbled to a deflating 2-1 loss to Newcastle Jets at nib Stadium on Saturday night.

The home side coughed up an early advantage and couldn’t recover from falling behind on the stroke of half-time against the competition’s bottom side.

After what Reddy described as a “good week” in training, Perth ultimately had their 35-year-old gloveman to thank for not copping a heavier defeat.

“It was a disappointing night for the team,” Reddy told Fox Sports.

“Obviously we want to be much better at home in front of our members and fans.

“We’ve got to go and have a look this week at how we did today because it’s just not good enough.”

Perth’s fourth defeat of the season leaves Kenny Lowe’s side without a win in three fixtures.

Reddy’s side will have a prime opportunity for redemption next Saturday night when unbeaten league-leaders Sydney FC head west.

“We’ll go back and have a look at (the Newcastle defeat). The good thing is the A-League comes around next week,” the shot-stopper said.

“We’ve got Sydney back at home and we need to put a good performance on and get maximum points.”
