Glory demolish Western Sydney

It was one-way traffic at Marconi Stadium on Sunday afternoon as Perth Glory trounced Western Sydney Wanderers 10-1 in their round four fixture.

Kate Gill scored half her teams goals, including an 11 minute hat-trick, to add to braces by Sam Kerr and Caitlin Foord as well as an Alanna Kennedy header.

It was a tight first half with chances falling for both sides.

Sham Khamis pulled off a great save to keep the scores at 0-0 after the Glory almost turned in a corner on nine minutes.

On 42 minutes, Michelle Carney reeled back the years as she went on a great run down the left, twisting and turning her defenders. Once at the by-line she cut the ball toward the penalty spot but Glory managed to clear their lines.

From there though, there was only one team out there.

The away side was dangerous from set pieces throughout the match and in the 45th minute they opened the scoring.

A delightful corner from captain Collette McCallum found Sam Kerr at the back post who made no mistake with the finish.

Only a minute later and the Glory had doubled their lead. Again, McCallum was the provider as Kerr grabbed her second, heading past Khamis.

In the 49th minute it was 3-0 to the Glory. as Marianna Tabain crossed for Kate Gill who scored her first of the day.

The home side got a life line in the 51st minute when Carney crossed for Helen Petinos who scored a wonderful volley across the keeper and into the back of the net.

Only two minutes later though and it was 4-1 for the away side. Khamis saved well from a Kerr shot but Gill was on hand to put the ball home.

The frantic start to the half continued only a minute later as Caitlin Foord powered the ball into the top corner for a fifth goal to the Glory.

In the 60th minute, Gill had an 11 minute hat-trick as she got her head onto a Kerr cross, beating Khamis in goal.

In the 69th minute, Gill added another after she rounded Khamis and slotted the ball into an empty net.

With just over 15 minutes to go, Alanna Kennedy scored against her former club, heading in from a free kick.

Gill then had her fifth with 12 minutes remaining, Shannon May this time with the assist.

The lanky striker turned provider in the 86th minute as Foord scored her teams 10th goal, taking them into double figures.

Next week the Glory welcome Canberra United to the West while the Wanderers travel to Brisbane to tackle the Roar.
