Perth Glory have inflicted a major blow on Melbourne Victory’s premiership hopes with a come-from-behind 2-1 win at nib Stadium on Saturday night.
Trailing 1-0 after the hour, Glory produced a rousing final 30 minutes to shore up their top six spot with two goals through Nebojsa Marinkovic and Adam Taggart.
Besart Berisha had given the visitors the lead after James Troisi was brought down in the area for a second time, sending Liam Reddy the wrong way from the spot.
The Albanian striker had missed an earlier chance to open the scoring when Reddy turned his first penalty onto the post prior to the break.
Ninkovic’s superb 77th minute free-kick and a classy finish from Taggart sees Perth leapfrog Wellington Phoenix into fifth.
Victory’s second straight defeat means they remain eight points adrift of first-placed Sydney FC with 11 rounds remaining.
