Sam Kerr struck a scintillating hat-trick in that match and the Golden Boot winner’s outstanding form has led many to back Perth in their bid to lift the trophy for the first time.

Despotovski, however, views the visitors as underdogs and called on them to produce a repeat performance of the one that shocked the Premiers at AAMI Park last weekend.

“We have to be either that good or better to get anything out of this game,” the Glory coach said.

“[Sydney FC] are obviously the favourites, but we’ll go there and give it our best shot and if our best shot is good enough, we’ll bring the trophy home.”

Star forward Kerr has scored in 10 of her 12 appearances this term and at least twice on five occasions.

She bagged a brace in a 2-1 win over the Sky Blues in December but Despotovski warned the 25-year-old and impressive strike partner Rachel Hill that they would need to be especially shrewd if they are to find similar joy at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Saturday.

“It’s going to be hard for them because obviously [Sydney FC] know how they’re playing,” he said.

“In saying that, we need to find the little pockets of space where the ball can be delivered to them and where they can do the business on the park.

“Whether we’re going to be successful in that we’ll see on the weekend.

“I think we are more than good enough to get something out of the game.”
