Perth Glory have bolstered their squad with the signing of 23-year old Slovenian defender Denis Kramar on a short term injury replacement contract.
Kramar arrived in Perth this week from Spanish La Liga side Getafe CF where he has spent the past year plying his trade.
Prior to his Spanish stint, Kramar who plays centre-back, spent four years in Slovenia’s PrvaLiga before moving to Polish outfit Widzew Lodz.
“It’s great to be in Perth, I’ve never been to Australia before so I’m looking forward to making the most out of this opportunity and being part of the team’s maiden premiership and hopefully championship” Kramar said.
Glory coach Kenny Lowe said Kramar was a welcome addition to the squad.
“He’ll provide cover at the back for us and he’s played at a good level. He’s here for a limited time as an injury replacement but who knows, that could all change,” Lowe said.
Kramar comes in at an important time of the season for the Club, with Yousouff Hersi, Chris Harold, Diogo Ferreira and Mitch Nichols, recovering from injuries and undergoing rehabilitation.
On a more positive note, Glory coach Kenny Lowe has signalled star midfielder Mitch Nichols could make a return later this month after tearing his hamstring in December.
“He’s back on the ball, he’s come out the other side of rehab and now he’s starting to get into some football-specific stuff…….so hopefully in a week or two he’ll be back in” Lowe said.
Glory, still sit at the top of the Hyundai A-League ladder for the 12th week in a row and face Sydney FC at nib Stadium this Saturday, February 7. Kick-off is 6.30pm.
