Melbourne Victory defender Jason Geria will be looking on with interest when the Caltex Socceroos take on Japan at Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.
It was not long ago that Geria was wearing green and gold in his one and only appearance for the national team so far.

The Victory right-back was selected for Australia’s friendly against Greece in June, making his debut in front of almost 40,000 fans at ANZ Stadium.
“It was amazing,” Geria said.
“Playing for the national team is something I’ve dreamt about doing since I was a little boy.
“The whole set-up of international football is completely different to club football. It’s such a special thing to be a part of.
“It’s something I definitely want to get back to doing. I’ve had a taste of it and I want more.
“The process starts with playing well for Melbourne Victory. My focus is playing well and if things happen, they’ll happen.
“If not, I’ve just got to keep working hard and hopefully it comes back around.”
Geria was a strong contributor in Victory’s opening game of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season, playing the full match at right-back in the 1-1 draw against Brisbane Roar.
The Caltex Socceroos host Japan in a FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night, with Australia looking to advance to its fourth successive FIFA World Cup.
