As the Spanish star readies for his Central Coast starting debut in Sunday’s clash with the A-League’s Reds, Luis Garcia revealed his talk after last week’s 4-0 loss was about sticking together.
The former Liverpool great spoke to the group after their loss in Brisbane and gave them a few words of encouragement after the shocker at Suncorp.
“The most important thing [said] was the team must stick together.
“To have team spirit and to have confidence in ourselves and try to do it all together.
“The most important thing is to keep fighting [together] not individually,” he said on Friday.
And now, after a week of tough training in hot conditions on the Central Coast, Garcia feels the Mariners can strike back in front of their home fans against United.
“We’re looking forward to this game. Hopefully we can have the support of our crowd.
“The training has been hard because in weather it’s not easy, but probably this weekend it’ll be hot so it’ll be the same for everybody.”
And, he hinted, if necessary he may even play 90 minutes.
“I’m excited it’s important to start from the beginning [of the game].
“I feel comfortable… I’m not saying I can play the 90 minutes but it just depends on how the game is going.
“We’ll see when [the game] arrives.”

Garcia this week posted a video from the trip to Brisbane featuring teammate Harry Ascroft’s initiation song in a café.
As for the song he’d belt out if asked, Garcia’s choice was perhaps apt given his Liverpool connection.
“I don’t think the guys will make me do this… but if the guys make me do it, I’ll be happy to… I’ll be singing ‘You’ll never walk alone’!” he said with a smile.
