Adelaide United have released defender Iain Fyfe from the final two years of his contract to join Iranian club Mes Kerman.
After spending a number of days checking out his new club, Fyfe requested a release from his contract in order to continue his career in Iran.
“Last night we agreed to release Iain from the last two seasons of his contract after informing us that he was eager to make the move,” Adelaide United General Manager – Football Operations Michael Petrillo said.
“While it is always sad when a player who has been a great servant of the club leaves, we are really happy for him with the opportunity he has been given and thank him for the contribution he has made here and wish him all the best for the future.”
Although Fyfe-s departure opens up a free spot on the Reds- playing roster, Petrillo stated the club was in no rush to the fill the vacancy.
Fyfe made a total of 86 appearances for Adelaide United in all competitions, 75 of those appearances and all five of his goals coming in the Hyundai A-League.
