At 28 years of age Nikolai has spent a lot of time playing football in Australia. Topor-Stanley has played all but one of the Hyundai A-League seasons, racking up 165 matches across four clubs (Sydney FC, Perth Glory, Newcastle Jets and Western Sydney Wanderers). He became one of the favourite sons amongst Wanderers fans in their inaugural seasons as he helped the side to the best defensive record in the 2012-13 season as they claimed the Premier’s Plate.

Topor-Stanley represented Australia at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games as a part of the Olyroos squad, has made three appearances for the Socceroos in 2008 and also represented Australia at U-20 and U-23 level.
