Brett Emerton would be one of Australia-s most experienced players in the English Premier League in the last decade. As such, he knows better than most what the Foxtel A-League All Stars will be up against when they take on Manchester United.
Emerton played for Blackburn Rovers for nine seasons during the height of his career, making 294 appearances and chalking up 19 goals. He has also played overseas for Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie, where he was part of the team that won the UEFA Cup in 2002.
The midfielder returned home to Sydney in 2011, signing a three-year deal with the Sky Blues. Having started his career with Sydney Olympic seventeen years ago, he now finds himself vice-captain of Sydney FC.
Emerton has also had a celebrated international career, having earned 94 caps and scoring 20 goals for the Socceroos. He has been a dependable part of the Australian team throughout his career and will be hoping a strong performance against Manchester United will remind everyone of his capabilities.
You can catch Brett Emerton along with all the other Foxtel A-League All Stars at their open training session on Sunday 14 July from 9.30am at Sydney Olympic Park Warm Up Arena. To attend the session you will need to register your interest here
