Fornaroli confident City can create history

Melbourne City striker Bruno Fornaroli is daring to dream of Hyundai A-League glory.

The Melbourne City marksman is bang in form heading into Friday night’s Hyundai A-League Elimination Final against Brisbane Roar, having scored in each of the last four games.

And Fornaroli is already visualising getting his hands on the Hyundai A-League Championship trophy.

“It’s a dream not only for me but for the club and the fans,” said Fornaroli.

“This would be the first one. We’ve got third spot and we’ve never done that before.

“The group is very happy and feeling good. I have big confidence in this group.

“We have the chance to go into history and I want to get it,” he said.

Despite just squeaking into the sixth finals spot, Brisbane are perennial Hyundai A-League playoff participants, and come into the game having won four of their last six matches.

And City’s Uruguayan talisman knows all too well the threat that Roar present.

“We’re playing against a very good team,” Fornaroli warned.

“They showed last week against Perth they can play football and they won away.

“It’s only one game – we don’t have a second chance – we have to be careful.”

After a long injury lay-off, Fornaroli is just relishing the chance to be back on the pitch.

“For now, this is a moment to enjoy, to play football and to do my best,” he said.

“After a long injury, I learned a lot about how much you have to do outside the pitch to come back better and stronger.

“Now it’s a moment to enjoy and that’s when I play my best football.”
