Melbourne City captain Bruno Fornaroli has stepped up his recovery from the ankle injury which has kept him out of Hyundai A-League action this season.
One of the competition’s leading marksmen, Fornaroli has been sidelined since the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 16 win over Hakoah Sydney City East in August.
Injury replacement signing Ross McCormack has performed well in the Uruguayan’s absence, scoring three goals in five appearances.
But the sight of Fornaroli running again is good news for the club as its talismanic striker works towards an expected January return.
“And now we start running towards the goal… return is closer each day!!!,” the 30-year-old wrote on Twitter.

City are currently one point off league-leaders Sydney FC following last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at home to the champions.
Warren Joyce’s men will look to get back to winning ways when they host Josep Gombau’s Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday.
