Fornaroli focused on silverware

Melbourne City’s record-breaking striker Bruno Fornaroli has one thought on his mind at the moment – winning the Premiers’ Plate.

The Uruguayan’s season has been one of the best in Hyundai A-League history and when asked about how many goals he would end up with this season, the striker admitted it that his main focus was to win silverware for City and that hasn’t changed.

“Before the start of the season I thought of this. I said I wanted to win the league and I continued with this thinking in my mind,” Fornaroli said.

“Of course it’s very important for me to score in the games but we have two big games in one of the most important weeks to win the league and we’ll go to Perth with confidence.

“When I came here, for me, I took a bit of a risk. I didn’t know the league, I didn’t come for money and I took a risk.

“I wanted this and I felt something inside me that wanted to go and try it and of course, I am very happy with this season.”

Reflecting on the season so far, Fornaroli has made it look easy, scoring 22 goals in 25 A-League matches this season but ‘El Tuna’ says the league is more difficult than what his goal scoring record looks like.

“It’s more difficult,” he said.

“Here, you need to play strong, to focus and concentrate and every game is difficult here. In some of the games, the last team can beat the top.

“Perth is hard. It’s a very good team with good players.

“It’s also a long trip so it’s difficult but when you are there, you need to forget this and win the game, it’s football.
