Former Wanderers defender departs Swedish club

Defender Scott Jamieson could be set for a return to the Hyundai A-League after his Swedish club IFK Goteborg confirmed he’s heading back home for family reasons.

“It’s not a matter of dissatisfaction with anything, on the contrary, he really enjoyed his time with us,”, the club’s sports director sports director Mats Gren said on the Goteborg website.

“The decision is purely for family reasons.”

“He may go on loan or a permanent transfer to any club, but it will take time to confirm. At the moment, Scott is free to return to his family in Australia.”

Jamieson joined Goteborg in August 2016 and made 26 appearances for the club.

The 28-year-old, who has four Caltex Socceroos caps, most recently played in the Hyundai A-League with Western Sydney Wanderers, helping the club to the 2015/16 Grand Final.

The pacy left-back has also had stints in the A-League with Adelaide United, Sydney FC and Perth Glory.
