Former Glory midfielder to face Caltex Socceroos

Former Perth Glory midfielder Krisztián Vadócz has been named in Hungary’s squad to play the Caltex Socceroos in next month’s pre-2018 FIFA World Cup friendly.

Vadócz has been named in a 22-man provisional squad for the June 10 (AEST) clash in Budapest.

The 32-year-old, who currently plays for Kitchee in Hong Kong, spent half a season at Glory back in 2016.

He made 11 appearances for Kenny Lowe’s side, scoring one goal as Glory made the Finals Series but were eliminated by Melbourne City.

During his time at Glory, Vadócz was a teammate of current Caltex Socceroos right-back Josh Risdon, who is a strong chance to start for Bert van Marwijk’s side at the Groupama Arena.

Hungary, who also play a game against Belarus on June 6, are the final hit-out for Bert van Marwijk’s men before they head to Russia.

The Hungarians missed out on a spot at the 2018 FIFA World Cup but are ranked just nine places behind Australia at 49th in the world.

And they possess some quality, with skipper Balázs Dzsudzsák a key as he nears his 100 international cap.

Young midfielder Adam Nagy has impressed in the Serie A with Bologna this season, while striker Ádám Szalai plays in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim.
