Former Arsenal full-back Jenkinson headlines Melb City departures

Melbourne City announced the departure of former Arsenal and West Ham full-back Carl Jenkinson as the 2021-22 Isuzu UTE A-League Grand Finalists already start preparing for next season.

Jenkinson headlined Tuesday’s exits, with Tsubasa Endoh and Anthony Lesiotis also leaving City at the conclusion of their contracts.

An ex-England international, Jenkinson moved to AAMI Park on a six-month loan deal from Nottingham Forest in January and established himself in City’s starting XI.

The Englishman made 28 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals, as City won back-to-back A-League Men Premierships, reached the Grand Final and enjoyed an unbeaten AFC Champions League campaign.

Former Toronto FC attacker Endoh, who also arrived on a six-month contract in January, featured in nine games – three of those starts in the Champions League.

As for midfielder Lesiotis, he departs City having not made an ALM appearance in an injury-interrupted season, though he did feature three times in the Australia Cup.

City farewelled Stefan Colakovski on Monday, with the forward joining Perth glory on Tuesday.
