Football NSW have teamed up with Sydney Olympic Park Women-s Sport Festival to host the fifth annual celebration of Women in Sport on Sunday the 17th of February at Cathy Freeman Park in Homebush.
The Football NSW initiative will commence at 9am on Sunday with a number of activities on display to promote and encourage girls and women to register to ‘Play Football- in 2013.
Through-out the day, star players from the 2013 Westfield W-League Championship winning team Sydney FC as well as players from the Western Sydney Wanderers will be participating in small sided games, signing autographs an providing plenty of promotional giveaways.
Current Matildas (Australian women-s national team) midfielder Renee Rollason will also be providing free coaching clinics presented at 10am, 12pm and 2pm for all ages on the day.
Australia is ranked ninth in the world for women-s football and have over 100,000 registered players across the country with that number rising each year thanks to the success of the Westfield W-League and the local NSW Women-s Premier League and Women-s Super League competitions.
