Football Federation Australia (FFA) has tonight welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court of Queensland in relation to the matter brought by Gold Coast United FC Pty Ltd.

Justice Dolton refused Gold Coast United FC Pty Ltd-s application for an injunction.

The ruling will ensure that:

• The Week 22 Hyundai A-League match – Wellington Phoenix v Gold Coast United will be played at Westpac Stadium on Sunday as scheduled (2.30pm AEST)
• The rules and regulations of the Hyundai A-League will be upheld
• The integrity of the competition has been protected

FFA CEO Ben Buckley said tonight:

“The FFA was well prepared for this outcome and tonight have activated a plan to run the Gold Coast team this Sunday.

“We have appointed Tom Sermanni, the Westfield Matildas coach, to coach the team this Sunday. Tom is a highly experienced club coach and will join the Gold Coast players tomorrow for their preparations.

“The players are ready to travel to Wellington tomorrow morning. I thank the PFA for their assistance and cooperation in this matter.

“In particular, I pay tribute to the players who have shown great professionalism and dedication over these past days.

“Their desire to play football and complete the season with dignity has been inspiring.”
