FFA reschedule Phoenix v Jets fixture

The round 26 Hyundai A-League between Wellington Phoenix and Newcastle Jets has been rescheduled to Wednesday 27 February.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) today confirmed that the Wellington Phoenix v Newcastle Jets match in Round 26 of the Hyundai A-League, scheduled for Saturday 23 March at Westpac Stadium, has been rescheduled to Wednesday 27 February at the same venue (7.30pm kick off).

The match has been rescheduled due to a clash with the FIFA World Cup Oceania qualifying matches between the New Zealand All Whites and New Caledonia on Friday 22 March and against the Solomon Islands on Tuesday 26 March. The FIFA World Cup Oceania qualifiers were not confirmed until after the Hyundai A-League 2012/13 season draw was released.

FFA determined that due to international transfer regulations, including the fact that the registration window will not be open at the time of the Round 26 match, Wellington Phoenix would be unable to sign replacement players to be able to field a Hyundai A-League team.

Up to 10 Wellington Phoenix players are expected to be unavailable for selection due to national team duties.

Wellington Phoenix do not have a National Youth League team from which to call up players and the Phoenix Centre of Excellence players are subject to international transfer restrictions and not able to be signed outside of the registration window.

The rescheduling of the match to 27 February was the only viable alternative date given the schedule of both clubs.
